Has anyone done an MCSE course for resettlement?

Any top tips for who to do it with close to Oxford?

Thanks

D

I'm doing year 1, MCSA distance learning at the moment, but I was recommnded to use Bluescreen IT for the MCSE in year 2. It is 33 days intensive (I think), and is ELCAS registered. Good luck and apologies for delay in reply.

I work for an IT firm at the moment, I have been advised by the microsoft team here to start doing the MCITP server 2008 administrator going onto the 2008 enterprise server administrator.

They have said there is not much point in doing the MCSE because everything that is getting built and or up graded is being set up with server 2008, where msce is based on 2003.

Also if you are doing self study, buy another comp to act as a server so that you can set up a network.

Thanks for the gen. It is good to have an insight of civvie IT setups (current) so one can best plan their future.

It will give me away as to where I work, and if he reads this, Kev get bent you jock git!!!

But I work for Cable and Wireless, I am part of the company which provides internet hosting, such as supermarkets ie you do you online shopping and you are looking at a site based here and all the info that is required for that purchase is kept safe here.
But we also look after other organisations, which require us to have SC clearance ( you get that in the RAF, and mentions it on your CV ) which means I have access to all sort of stuff, but I can not say what here or via PM.

But I would not do the MCSE, because you need to future proof yourself, all the guys I know who have it are upgrading themselves slow time to the new server 2008 microsoft certified IT professional cert, only because it is easier to work on an older OS than a new one.

Ive just started doing mine, I did rob a couple of old Dell desktops to use in a network, but they are the same old dells that the RAF had years ago, so are feck all use apart from a door stop, so I have had to use a laptop, this is because you need to configure different systems which need duel core.

If you want any more real world gen please give me a shout, if I can't answer I will know people who will, I work with a whole range of IT disciplines from unix, microsoft, building of the servers to the building of the cabs they go into and all the cabling.
If your new to commercial IT it will be amazing to see, and you will think bl00dy hell !! when you see just where internet servers are kept and how they are looked after and the size of the buildings.
