LOL...I guess you've been lurking a while and getting the nagging emails...oh well they should now stop.......although you could just join in and post some stuff :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Welcome and enjoy.....Crack on...............:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Welcome to the goat. I assume by your name there is a good chance you were TG3 (or TG2 as it was before we were elevated to higher status:PDT_Xtremez_30:)

Edited to say I have just looked at your profile and see you were an L Fitt GR, predecessors to the TC gods:PDT_Xtremez_14:.

What is a TC god please?

Yes I was in TG 2:PDT_Xtremez_30:

****

A TC is someone who always brought the superior & dare I say, more handsome JAFAD God his cuppa in the morning.

Hope that clears it up:PDT_Xtremez_14:

L Fitt GC became known as L Tech TC (Telecommunications or TechnoCrat).

I have just re-looked at your profile and realised you were an L Fitt GR. The "good" ones became L Tech AF (Airfields) and were occasionally allowed to be located with the TC's whilst the less able became L Tech AD (Air Defence), otherwise known as JAFADs:PDT_Xtremez_30:.

In 1972 when I was 30 I decided to make money rather than radar waves and so became a civilian. Made the money and retired at 55.

After I left Locking in 1961 worked on GROUND RADAR STATIONS and Blood Hound units. Never worked on an airfield radar. I preferred to work 150 feet below ground!:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Judging by your age, you will have joined up around about the same time as my last Chief in the RAF. He joined up as an L Fitt GR and became a JAFAD. Obviously he stayed in and nevere made any money:PDT_Xtremez_42:.

We both took redundancy in 1994.

For info JAFAD = Just Another Fcuking AD:PDT_Xtremez_30:.

More info on the acronym JAFAD = Just Another Fantastic AD (AD version)

It was invented by the rockapes on rapier Sqns circa 1984-85, there are a few versions of how it came about.

I was never sure where it had come from as it wasn't in usage when I joined up but was fairly common by the early 90's.

I 1st heard this in 85 - The truly disappointing moment was looking at the possible posting locations (on the big map) for the different streams & realising AD was limited to say the least.

Would that be the big map in 4(T)?

I remember looking at that one and thinking: where are all the fcuking postings in Scotland? Also checking it to see where Henlow was and thinking "Fcuk me!. Who have I ****ed off to deserve that"?
