Question for Medics/Dischargees
Currently into my LOS 30 period after completing 24 years but having a bit of med trouble.
Needless to say I'm in my last stint of temp MES and am still undergoing treatment which means I'll probably never run again, and have a feeling/grip problem in one of my hands.........(yes it does feel like someone else is doing it)
Obviously now I could be facing a board and possible discharge, my main question is, I'll get my pension and lump sum as I've done over 22. From what I've heard the annual pension becomes tax free, is that likely to be my only award? or am I entitled to additional medical pension? or is it % of disability dependant?
Any info greatfully rec'd

Usually, the only 'award' you get is if you can prove that you are unable to work when you leave the RAF.

For example, and these aren't exact figures, if you prove that you could only work say 4 hrs a day, you may get only have to pay half the tax on your pension.

If you could prove that there is no way you could work, then you get your pension at 100% tax free.

Unfortunately, SPVA veterans and the RBL are usually only able to help once you have left the RAF.

Good luck fella.
