Medal mounting

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Can anyone let me know what the gen is for getting your medals mounted please? I have 5 that are all kicking around in their various boxes, just thinking it would be nice if they were properly mounted, as they are now I couldn't wear them. Do I have to pay or is it at public expense? I'm talking about the ones issued by the RAF for No.1's not mess dress ones. Thanks.

You can get them swing mounted at public expense by the Station tailor.

If you would like them court mounted then you have to pay (unless you are on QCS or a member of the Royal Household). Lots of companies will court mount for you. The RAF News normally has a fair amount of adverts. I use Worcester Medals - they are not the cheapest; but have always done a good job.

The most competative company is www.messdress.com they court mount them for £4 a medal which is roughly half what the station tailor here charges. They are top quality and really fast turnaround. Dont take them to clothing stores to be swing mounted as you will be disappointed.

I have used this company before. Good price / excellent service. No problems at all.

As above I have used messdress.com on a couple of occasions and have always found them to be a professional service and totally satisfied with the work done, also considerably cheaper than the Station Tailor who it almost felt like too much like hard work even though I was paying for his service, I have in the past and would on this occasion recommend Mess Dress who even turn the medals around in about 72 hours

GTT...where are you based? Marham's Tailor(ess) is pretty quick and reasonably priced too. I can't say the same for other Stn Tailors though.

What the mad Mackem says. My missus had mine mounted and framed by them as a birthday present from the girls. Fair price and excellent service.

Marham's tailor is twice the price of messdress.com and is currently not taking new orders anyway.

if you want to PM me I know someone who court mounts them, and does a very good job with a quick turn around. Let me know if you're interested and your location?

Didn't know that, but some might be worried about posting them, so a local connection isn't always bad. I'll be sending mine off to md.com to get my Jubbly added on then.
