I was MD'd from the RAF several years ago and would like to know the criteria that the RAF Med Branch use to determine how an individual should be downgraded on medical grounds.OPSEC Conscious though please.

In my own case, I fought like hell to get upgraded only to be told how ill I was and eventually was downgraded to two steps from death by the system in use.

Yes, I was discharged eventually because I need daily medication ,but then I ended up working for the RAF in operational environments as a civvy because of my skills and knowledge within my field.

Does this not seem a little odd? Why was I kicked out of a blue suit when quite clearly, I was still useful?

The plus side is I earn more money now than I could have ever have imagined, but the fact is, I wanted to stay in the RAF and would come back tomorrow if I was given the chance.

There is now a wheelchair bound navy type (reserves) who has been told he can retain his position and rank,

What about people like me? People who still want to serve, know what it's all about and have the knowledge to make the grade.

Or is it because I was only a lowly JNCO.

Regards to you all.
