I am thinking of joining the reserves. the only problem is I had an operation on my back 16 years ago to correct a spinal problem (scoliosis)

I have not had any problems doing anything since then, but just wondered does this stop me joining as a reserve, it is not mentioned on the reserves website as an automatic no.

I doubt it would, but I think the only person who could answer this is the medical examiner.

I would suggest that you ASK the question of the Reserves Recruiting staff.... that way you get an answer and MAY save yourself and them a whole lot of bother.....

The RAF has an official S.S.T.(spinal strenth test)officer, but unfortunately he is missing at the moment.

Kevin can you help this man?
