Just registered yesterday, and site makes great reading. I encountered a bloke the other week that claimed to be a "just retired" Group Captain. He came across as a complete Plonker. I think he is either a bull****ter or was a liability and sent to fly a desk somewhere. Was wondering if some Old Sweats knew of him or his disasters. I'm not to sure what the etiquette is with posting names so thought I'd ask here before I put his name up in lights.

Welcome and no names please...you could have a go at describing where he said he served and what roles but you can't directly name the person.

Thanks for the guidance. He said he was a Group Captain and was in Bodø Norway, 2004 and last stint was in the Netherlands. Possibly Brunssum. I think possibly a CO of 51 SQN at one time. I can post the Initials.

phishing?

phishing?

FD - I've got to ask, why would you want info on this person? If you are looking for info from goters it will more than likely be a perspective from the ranks not the commissioned cadre.

What is the motive for this line of question?

Because I think he's a fake. If not, and I'm wrong he seems like a walking disaster. It is precisely the views of the ranks I'm after.

Go for the initials...but no more.

In that case rather than go after the person, go after the character. You need to extract and recite his stories/accounts of the RAF then regale them here. People will react then you will have ways of getting into this character further where by he will either keep digging or walk. – I would have thought that simply going after this persons previous mistakes would put you in the firing line for a threat of “victimisation”...Just a thought

He became rather shy when in a pub he was recounting being on "Military Service Overseas" a rather forthright Bootneck put him on the spot when he pinned him down, verbally of course, and he had to admit that the overseas bit meant the English Channel and the 'service' was flying a desk. large guffaws all round, was wanting some more ammo if he ventures in again.

I expect this bloke still lives at home with Mummy. He reminds me of an LAC I once served with in RAFG(2TAF), who had :PDT_Xtremez_17:failed trade training at Locking and scraped through at Shawbury, who was assessed "improve or discharge" and chose to leave.

Ask him what his service number is (was).

( Groupies and above don't have one)

Side-stepping the obvious wah, they used to lose it on promotion to Gp Capt, so it didn't appear on the F1250 (as all good live-armed guards will remember). However I think that they now retain it for JPA and stuff.
