Just wondering are you entitled to full DA if you are moving house due to new born?
I have asked around, some have said full some have said half.

I have read the below but cant work it out. What rate have you received?

Cheers

JSP 752
TRI SERVICE REGULATIONS FOR ALLOWANCES
07.0110. Mid-assignment Moves. DA is only payable for mid-assignment moves where the move of accommodation is for Service, compassionate, welfare or medical reasons. Where the Service person’s accommodation entitlement changes due to promotion or a change in the size of the immediate family (other than as a result of first setting up of home) the Service person will normally be entitled to a mid-assignment move and therefore the associated level of DA. The Service person must have an expectation of occupying the new property for at least 6 months. Mid-assignment moves for other personal reasons, including on estrangement, and for operational deployments do not give an entitlement to DA.

Some time ago, I had a mid-assignment move when they sold off my FQ. I received full DA, plus the child element....although I had to fight for that even though my children had changed school.

Hopefully a helpful TG17 type will give you some more upto date gen.

iaw JSP 464 you are entitled to a C type (3 beds) SFA if you have 2 or 3 children but in some places if C type are in short supply it may be necessary to occupy a B type (2 beds) if your children are under 5.

If you are moving then they must be available and as long as you are expected to do at least 6 months then I would say yes to DA :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Usual JSP jargon which confuses people :S

Many thanks

Loads of C types empty around here.

Another related question?
I have 12 months left in post, but say I move then get promoted and posted 4 months after being in new house do I lose out on DA on my second move, as I haven't been in the house for 6 months?

Cheers

JSP seems fairly clear on this: " The Service person must have an expectation of occupying the new property for at least 6 months."

So if you know your promoted and posted within 6 months then it might cause a problem, however if it's "If i'm promoted, If i'm posted" then you have nothing definate and therefore you have a reasonable expectation to stay still for 6 months (You can't read a promotion boards mind or a drafters), I would expect you to get DA for both moves in this situation.

I can only pray to get promoted, but as am overseas didn't want to miss out on DA to get back to England.
