Having recently had my terminal medical, I requested a copy of all my medical records under an FOI request.

I looked through the records this week only to find that there were no documents connected to one of my postings. For over 17 years service I find 18 months of information missing.

I'm not going to mention the camp involved... but I was there for over 18 months, had medical treatment carried out and had entries on my medical records at that camp, that may have bearing on my future health.

Can anyone tell me where to begin in trying to find my missing docs?

Cheers

I've had the same, my missing camp was Brize and it was 3 years! There was a few bits of 556? or something with the odd appointment on. Funnily enough that was also when my back went. According to my local med centre there will be a gap due to the changeover of systems and not everything was transferred to electronic????. Weird as my 1st posting stuff was transferred. Got enough on the small bits of papers and subsequent med boards for any future case.

Put in a claim for a medical/disability pension for injuries/illness treatment during the 'lost period'. I bet they soon find the records.

If they are going to fcuk you around make sure you fcuk them around.

Contact the Practice Manager; tell him/ her your concerns and I'm sure they'll look into it. Probably just some lazy erk who couldn't be arsed photocopying all the old paper records!

I shocked my back at Cosford in 1971 (sports afternoon) and ended up in S.H.Q. on a fracture board. I put a claim in after I left the Mob in '77. The medical record of this event could not be found, but R.A.F.A. pressed ahead and made a successful claim for me.
So if they deny knowlege of medical records just bang on until they cave in.

Count your self lucky, as you know I was med discharged, and even though I was under constant medical care for 4 years they still lost mine.
And my dental records too. Bunch of half wits these nursey types :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Really? You'll probably find your records were deleted when the Wroughton Psychiatric Dept closed down. I do have a confession to make. On Thursday afternoons; when we're allegedly closed for business, you'll actually find the 'nursey types' shredding peoples records; techies only obviously, whining cry babies that they are.

Cheers guys, not sure where to go as I don't have a single scrap of paper mentioning my tenure at 'Camp X'.

For example...

Halton Records available
Cosford Records available
Leeming Records available
Cosford Records available
Camp X No Records, nothing, not a bean!
Coltishall Records available
Leuchars Records available
Cosford Records available

So I can't understand why I have stuff from before 'Camp X' and after 'Camp X' but nothing for 'Camp X' whatsoever! Surely everything from before should have gone through that camp... why wasn't that lost?

Ninja Rabbi, which Practice manager should I speak to... my last one (Cosford) or the one where my records have gone missing?

Thanks again

HTB

I'd have a chat with the PM at Cosford first, he's a good egg. Is 'Camp X' a sneaky beaky kind of place? Even if it is all your records should be held in your Form Med 4 unless they're in electronic form and even then they should be readily available.

Cheers Ninja... I'll drop them a line and ask the question.

As for Camp X... not sneaky beaky... just don't want to embarrass people without due cause! :PDT_Xtremez_28:

The Veterans Agency were looking into a disability pension for me after I was diagnosed with my heart & the possibility of it being linked to my service, when they applied to the MoD for my medical docs, they came back & said they were all missing, despite providing addresses for where they could be (I joined the TA after I left) they still couldn't find them,so my pension claim was dissalowed.
Incidentally,a mate who was injured in Iraq a few years ago (non combat injury) & has since been warned for medical discharge, asked for his docs & was told he could have them providing he signed a waiver saying he would not sue the MoD/RAF/Whoever.

It's not about taking legal action or anything like that, it's just wanting the missing gap in my medical records to make sure that everything is noted.

Didn't say you were going to sue them mate, was just saying what happened to a fellow plumber when he asked for copies of his records.
