More bad news

Another sad day.
Do you think the boys and girls will be back for Christmas? If so how long until they are all packed off to the Stan?

It now seems that not a day goes by without the headlines of another Serviceman lost in Iraq/Afghanistan.

I read of how their loss is going to affect the whole of their Company/Unit and I wrote a letter to the new Prime Minister asking why as First Minister of State he is not at the Repatriation of the Dead Ceremony as it is his duty to be there in mourning for the people of Great Britain. As of yet...I have had no reply...but it is early days.

As a retired Soldier and still having friends in the Army who are out there...I take each piece of news that comes through with a oh please lord don't let it be them....

I know that is selfish but the worry is real and the loss that each and every family must go through is something I hope to never feel.

It must be upsetting and frustrating for the CO's of the Unit concerned that the loss of a individual is probably not going to be the last in this Vietnam of the 21st Century.

The Bravery and Sacrifice that our Armed Forces are willing to make for our Political Masters are second to none and I am forever telling my sons about the honourable history of the Army (sorry about the RAF and Navy..but I am a Army Gal) and we cannot afford to keep losing the best of the best...

I feel like the Defence Minister when he states "My Heartfelt sympathy goes to the Families".... but it is not something read from a Que Card...but a geniune sympathy for their loss and I read something that hit home....in their sacrifice they upheld the honour of their Regimental Colours ...I only wish sadly that we had honourable masters.

Another gone in Iraq. Para Regt. RIP fella and condolences to family and friends. :PDT_Xtremez_37:
