Hi any current MT Drivers on here ? I was one a long time ago. Would like to catch up on the modern way of doing things.

Red Flags ? Been playing with your trains too much ?
Serco Fleece ? Techie Pay ? All Greek to me, maybe one of you cowboys can translate ? In the 1950-60s MT Drivers & Mechs. went to RAF Weeton, near Blackpool for trade training. Drivers learnt on Landrovers, Standard Vangaurd saloons, and Austin Lodestar 3ton trucks. These trucks had cart springs, crash gearbox (no synchro-mesh) no power steering. Bit too much for you Ladies today ? After 5 or 6 years, drivers might be selected to go back to Weeton for an MTD-Operators course, where they were taught to operate 10 ton Coles crane, Leyland Hippo refueller, (crash box, cart springs, no power steering) and the wonderful Tugmaster. This had pre-select gears, fluid flywheel, power steering Rolls engine. Lovely thing to drive. Once they were mastered, one had the chance to be promoted to Cpl. The first step on the slippery slope. How does it work today ?
