At the unit I'm at now most of the twin-cabs/vans are based on Ford Transits so they're actually not too bad, comfortable and with decent radios etc.
Also the SWB Landrovers are being withdrawn (being replaced in their role by the LWB L/R's) with Pinzagauers (sp?) replacing the LWB L/R's in turn and they really are a good piece of kit.
Vauxhall Corsa's though, whats that all about? Pedalbox the size of a fag packet so if you're wearing boots or have feet sized 10 or bigger you're screwed.
The orderly officer at my unit covers 2 units so gets a little corsa for the day. It's 3 years old and in a mess. Very true comment about the pedal box earlier - I went to change gear (depress clutch) and caught the brake with my left foot - car behind got a shock!
Once took one of MT's finest to a meeting at Boscombe down - a 3 year old Focus diesel. had done 80,000 miles and I doubt the brake fluid had been changed once if at all - talk about spongey DT_Xtremez_42:
And the lads on the line at the home of the "Queen of the Sky" complained bitterly about LDV crew cabs - kept pranging them (thankfully not into the jets - the movers had that covered). The lads bleated that they wanted toyota pick-ups like what they have on det. So the RAF obliged and bought Ford Explorer pick-ups. One week later, Ford Pickup, greasy side up, on the ac wash pan. DT_Xtremez_30: (Strange donut shaped tyre marks close-by too)
