Hiya all!

I am off on my 2 week MTGB course in June - any tips, what does it involve apart from the 4 day first aid at work course.

Whats the accommodation/food like?? Are the rumours true that its totally crap??

Any kit recommendations?

Thanks!!

MTGB isn't as bad as the TMT course, mostly depends on what trade you are as to how boring it actually is.

You'll do the first aid at work and are tested on CPR and recovery position. They'll teach you about entenox and airway adjuncts and there's lessons on drowning and thermal injuries.

The accommodation is absolutely awful - JR's are in shared rooms and the ablutions are in crap condition. You get issued bedding so take your own duvet and sheets. A padlock for the wardrobe is also advisable.

It's been a while since I was at Keogh but I understand that there's now a decent coffee shop but the mess serves deep-fried slop and the slop-jockeys are the rudest I'd ever met.

Enjoy!

I work there. The much loved Jimmy's cafe (toast and strong tea for 50p) HAS been shut down and replaced with a pricey Costa Coffee.

Accom still standing, just but the big tops wont spend any cash on the place all the time we teeter on the edge of a move to litchfield....

Medical Trade Group Basic.

It is basically a first aid at work certificate, plus a few extras, for those of us who fall within TG15 but are not medics.

Keogh is a damn awful place, having spent a year there. I am due my MTGB refresher training and am not looking forward to it.

It takes all sorts unfortunately dogfondler and I usually find that lack of knowledge often leads to an attempt at a smart ass answer. :PDT_Xtremez_26:

Anyway to answer the original question, MTGB isn't too bad. First four days are spent doing the first aid at work certificate with the test on the Friday if I recall correctly. Then an early dart for the weekend.

Back on the Monday where you are trained to clear and maintain airways, administer oxygen and entonox etc etc. This week ends with a pish exercise where you will either be a victim or first aider. I'm sure we finished the second week on the Thursday.

Food and Accom is bad beyond belief but hey ho its only a fortnight.
