Scenario:

I live in the SNCO mess, which went to PAYD in November last year. Food charges stopped coming out of pay as expected. I then went on detachment to the USA for 14 days in January (on actuals), and found £80.75 (or 19 days worth of food charges) had been deducted from Januarys pay for food.

I'm not alone in receiving this charge, although it seems a bit of a mystery where it has come from...any admin gurus shed any light??

Yes, whoever has moved you on JPA has not applied your PAYD Marker for your period on det. Did the Admin Order for your movement say that food charges were to be levvied - if so then it has been done correctly. If it didnt, then it is easily fixable by an admin bod - all they have to do is go back to the date in question on JPA and tick a box!

I'm guessing that you went for the period 13-26(ish) - the 19 days will be because it takes you to the end of January - the cut-off date for inputs was about 20th Jan. I'll also guess you received 19 days' LSA instead of 14 too.
