Naval slang!!?!!

Not Quite, there was a book published around about 1992/3, I think it may have been called "Liney Speak" I have a copy somewhere, the profits went to BLESMA.

"Jackspeak" was published and was sponsered by Pussers Rum about that time. Good book .

How come the little box of exaggerations on the BBC page doesn't have "I was in Baghdad when you were in your dad's bag"?:PDT_Xtremez_14:

I remember joining up the first time in '92 (RN) and seeing a copy of 'Jack Speak' it's been around for donkeys years...

Not an f'ing chance of me going tri-service now my 12 years (RAF) is up.

Actually the 1989 edition was a reprint. No idea when the 1st edition was printed.

My copy which is dated 2000 states on the flyleaf "First edition published in Great britian 1989 as Jackspeak: The Pusser's Rum Guide to the Slangage of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines"

Stan Smith, who when i knew him was in his late Fifties and still flying Pumas, used to say when he was losing an argument - I was flying helicopters when you were a twinkle in your fathers left bulloxx!

An even older one - When he joined the RAF, the dead sea had a slight headache!
