Oh dear Albert goes bump. Reversing HMS Chiddingfold into HMS Bangor not good form at all reversing into your navy mate even if it is called Bangoro_O

One news report suggests it was a engineering issue rather than operating error... Even so, not a good news story since it means that 2 operational vessels out of an already small fleet are now out of action - possibly for an extended period as they are made of fibreglass.
Having the whole thing caught on video is also not great...

One is led to believe that, in these enlightened times, even the RN has relaxed regulations about reversing into one another. Mind you, a lot of that stopped when they allowed Sea-going WRENs. These days it isn't just the ships and hearts that are made of oak...

More trouble for Albert. After 7 years of upgrades his underwater boats are still firing duds into the oggin with the defence secretary and head of boats onboard at the time.

" The missile's booster rockets failed and it landed in the sea close to the launch site.........Both the Defence Secretary Grant Shapps and the head of the Navy were on board HMS Vanguard off the east coast of the US when it fired the unarmed test missile in January.
The submarine had just had a more than seven year refit."

Hot poop off the ‘Cheery Chid’ I heard last week. Apparently some maintenance had been carried out on the kit that the operator selects forwards and backwards on…incorrect assembly or wiring meant a selection of forwards caused it to go into reverse.
