Quick question for an admin god-type:

I applied earlier in the year for ET after 23 years, getting the full 18 months I was entitled to. I have been offered a place on the Troops to Teachers scheme which means I have to move my termination date forward to meet the January start. However I was told today that due to the latest manning crisis in the organisation I may not be released early.

I probably know the answer to this but is there anything I can do to secure my release?

Thanks in advance...

Whats the minimum waiting time in your rank & trade? If its still 6 months, then you can amend your ET date to today + 6 months. Use your resettlement, terminal and any annual leave from January through to April/May whilst you are on the T2T scheme.

Could he not change his ET date to the date he first applied + 6 Months (If thats his minimum waiting time) by gen app

To paraphrase the AP - If you ask to serve out a notice period longer than the Minimum, which you have done originally, any subseqent requests to accelerate may not be approved dependant on the needs of the Service. Once the Service has accepted the original 18 months, there is no obligation to accept an acceleration unless compelling reasons arise. It does depend on circumstances and the case you can put forward. It also depends what flavour of TG12 you are, as normal people are currently at 6 months and SNCO FC's are 12 months... The reference you seek for all this is AP 3392 Vol 2 Leaflet 703. Finally, apologies for the lack of spaces but DII is poo!

Thats what I thought, I'm not an FC so the 12 months doesn't apply. The issue has been caused bu posting being allowed with no replacements. Apparently I won't be released until there is a name against another slot (to make it worse it's an officer slot that has to be filled first). Obviously if I don't get released then I cannot take up my new job in January with no guarantee of acceptance to the next intake for September 14.

Just what I expect after 24 years I suppose!
