Hello, Introducing myself, ex-Boy Entrant 4th entry 1948, removed the T63 Blue suit for good December 1971.Trained as
a Telegraphist but opted to transfer to Spec Op (Tel) when the trade was split as most my service up until then had been as a Spec Op.
Had some very good overseas postings my favourites being Gatow where three of us, having relieved three UK Civvies there had nothing to do with the RAF even though we wore uniform at work. Our hours were what one may call 'unsociable' but as such made it impossible to be rostered for any station duties or parades etc. Another was a four year tour at Seletar after doing an Indonesian language course. A tour in civvies at the Australian Defence Signals Directorate in Melbourne went down well with the opportunity to see something of the country. Like most of us I did have a few negative postings but the good ones always outweighed those.
Had a number of jobs in civvy street including thirteen years in the pharmaceutical industry and five years self-employed on a contract with Singapore Airlines.
