There is a lot of rumours flying around about yet another restructuring og the Premier League.

The "big 4 " breaking away and playing in a super league with a 2 tier Premiership with no relegation from the bottom tier seems to be the current favoured option.

Well I wouldn't be sorry to see the back of the current monopoly that United and Chelsea have and that Liverpool and Arsenal cling to the edge of but I wonder what their fans would think about only having about 20 home games affordable, no local Derbys or FA Cups etc? No away day fun or lording over the rest of the league? More importantly how will they cope without having the same refs week in and out who apparently favour them every time they play?

whilst the prem 1 and prem 2 idea (which may bring in rangers and celtic) may well come to be reality, the breakaway by Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal wont ever happen.

The prem 1 and 2 idea has been brought up before with 2 smaller divisions of about 14 teams. The 20 we have now some plus 2 token foreign teams from up north and carefully selected teams from the current championship. The championship teams would apparently be selected on ground facilities, fan base, distance from existing prem clubs and not on league position or playing squad. Smacks of the way rugby league super league was created. The breakaway 4 super league is a new one, however the idea of a pan european big league for the uber rich few has been talked of for years.
