Greetings all,

As it says, I'm a Newbie to the Goat Forums, although I have "lurked" for some time. A Civ, but an MoD Civ at Air Command so I do have some idea of things.

Joined mainly because some advice on PTI careers on the Forums was very useful for my partner's youngest who wants to join up when he hits the age.

...and Longbowman..? Because I shoot 'em!

Fantastic, I've always wanted to do a bit of archery but never knew how to go about it. I've done some when i was at school on a camp but ended up bruising my forearm... :p

Welcome to the Goat

Cheers, and thanks for the friendly welcome.

I wasn't aware of the radar "connection" before, but rather intrigued now.

Ah, yes, the bruised forearm- know that one! Hurts like wotsit, even with a decent bracer. Found the best way was to slightly crook the arm out at the elbow- looks a bit odd but works.

you've fuelled my archery lust!!! I'm going to find somewhere to fly some arrows :p

Ah, its good fun- takes a bit of persistence and (if I'm anything to go by), some pretty awful shots at first. Now, if I had an FAC (Cert, not Controller), I'd shunt my armoury into a more recent Century!

AHHH! Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt, the longbow at its best. Not bad for an idea we pinched of the Welsh.

Indeed, primitive artillery at its best! Not too sure about the Welsh thing- historically there were longbows used by the Saxons and Danes too. In Wales, apparently they used Elm mostly. Yew in Britain grows wrong to make good bows...so we imported from Spain by putting a yew stave tax on wine!!

Sorry, getting a bit a**l on the subject.

Cheers
