Hi All,
Just to say hello & a bit of background from me. My first posting was RAF Cottesmore Tri -National fleet Tornados airframe mechanic, then RAF Laarbruch 20 Sqn Tornados. Left the mob end of 1984 & employed by British Airways on B747 majors, after 4 years left & worked as Longhaul cabin crew, B747 100/200 series,
B747 400 series & mid range B767, shorthaul B757 B737 & Tristars. Diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis in 1990 a chronic form of arthritis, kept flying for another 7 years but suffered with chronic pain at altitude.
Left BA returned to my passion & more physical work gardening, worked for the King of Jordan & when he unfortunately died I left and ran my own Gardening business & still am with my good wife.
Really loved my RAF days & the comradeship was 2nd to none & with hindsight should of stayed & perhaps would of kept me grounded ! I really enjoy running when the bones allow & have run 13 Marathons to date. pb 2 : 48 in 1982. Times are alot slower now but ran the 2013 Virgin London Marathon in 4 : 13 for charity RBL in a orange morph suit ! next up is Amsterdam. Oh yes I love classic bikes & have a 1965 Tiger90.
Hope to rebuild a very much missed RAF natter. Cheers.
