I guess little old me is the only SAC on here not too happy about the lack of pay rise, nice big kick in the teeth that was!

Work hard and it'll come

Work hard and it'll come

As long we get back to normal promotion rates, work had and look forward to the pay rise in the future.

Agree with Busby, we are now seeing a better promotion rate, so for those that want to stay in, it will be a nice bonus for those on the shop floor when they get their blue letter...Oh we don't do that any more do we. :PDT_Xtremez_26:

I think that for our current crop of TG17 SAC's, we see a lot of hard working guys and gals. Some of them, I have see fly past me and rightly so in some cases and these are being rewarded with the extra whack. For those still on the shop floor, keep working at it and you will get there. I did and it took me forever to change my rank slides! :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I agree with Boarderlyne - as a former 10 and a half year SAC I had to keep the faith (and my nose clean for 3 consecutive years!!). Shirley, you'll be fine.

Dont think I have ever posted on here - I normally use the goat as a source of information. Anyway, I know how you feel Shirley as I am in the same boat as well. It does feel a little demoralising knowing that we are the only ranks that are not being rewarded for the hard work that is done throughout our trade from top to bottom. However, I am glad that there is at last some recognition being given to TG17 and like you I look forward to reaping the rewards when they one day will see fit to promote me. : )

I suppose the commitment bonus and the 'carrot' of promotion is there?

kenny i am suprised you arent there already matey!

Promotion for the good SACs is pretty quick at the moment. I know of two who have come off at the top of the board who only have just over 4yrs seniority, which was unheard of a few years back.

5yrs from attestation to Rock Star Wages isnt long to wait, particularly when you get big bonuses at the 4.5 yr point.

It's tough on the SAC's who have to a certain extent been the frontline for JPA but the trade is bloody lucky to have managed to get the higher level for Cpl-WO most other trades only got it for Cpls and Sgts, just remeber as well the AGC are still on the lower paybands so at least if you work hard and get your tapes there is something to look forward too.

I'll leave out my feelings about any TG17 being paid the same as techies, cos it winds me up. However I cannot beleive that anyone thinks that the admin SAC's have been hard done by. AMM's who are aircraft techies are on the lower pay band untill they do their FT. I don't think it would do much for the aircraft trade recrutment levels if an SAC adminer got paid better that a SAC techie.

Still surprised

Still surprised

TBH, I am still surprised that we got it this time round. So many times, we have been close but no cigar. But to get it for all the NCO ranks has still blown me away.

As said earlier, the promotion seems to be moving along at a decent clip so work hard and you too could be on pop star wages sooner than you think! :PDT_Xtremez_31: And nobody is losing out as no-one is seeing a drop in their wages.

I certainly agree with S2.
Whereas I'm sure TG17 SAC's have been at the sharp end dealing with JPA's faults, can you really justify higher rate salary for what you do?

By the sounds of it, with quick promotion and the promise of a considerable pay rise on promotion, you haven't done too badly at all.

Off Topic

Now, could someone on this thread please explain exactly why NCO TG17 are now on Higher Rate?

This is not an attempt at a wind up but a genuine query.

I have asked this question on previous threads and no-one seems to know.

I feel that if it was presented in black and white exactly why they receive 'pop star' wages it 'may' smooth relations between shineys and aggrieved techies.

Show me your justification and we'll show you ours...

No honestly, just pi55 off, you bitter git.

I don't know the ins and outs of other trades and you have no idea about the ins and outs of ours, if you think it's an easy life then remuster, we are are pinch point trade. And as I am guessing you are a techie of some kind your's is not (appols if you are a switch b1tch TG 4)

My justification, since you ask, is the training I had to undergo to do my job, and the level of responsibility I hold day by day doing it. I am not a techie.

I was genuinely trying to be helpful and have made the point in other threads that actually it doesn't matter a bit to me as I still get paid the same.

However, the attitude that you have just vented all over the shop is starting to make me understand why so many techies are p1ssed off with you lot.

I do think the SAC's in your trade have no call for complaint, and as to what you guys actually do that warrants higher rate pay it is definitely not as obvious as the demands placed upon other trade groups that already get the higher rate of pay.

I am actually going to look up the JSET as SSH has suggested and have a read, and if I have time, I'll post it on here for others to mull over and decide for themselves. Maybe, as I have suggested, it may take the heat out of the discussion.
