..do those of you who are now on the high payband think that they pay increase is deserved?

Has the workload increased a great deal or are you still doing what you were doing beforehand?

I ask this not to start a war but to genuinely guage feelings on this subject.

Now that I find myself working with the green army more and more, going on 6-month 'army' tours and having harmony times cut to 18 months. I myself want more money.

I propose an allowance for working in hazardous to your sanity army 'I mean joint' establishments.

Slighty off topic, so i'll get down from my soapbox.

Of course it is deserved!!!
I wouldn't say that the workload has increased all that much, however the nature of the job is totally different to what it was...

IMHO the only worrying thing now is the number of fairly junior SACs that seem to be getting picked up...I don't begrudge them the extra money but the thought of some of these people with relatively little experience of the RAF coming to a unit near you as a jnco should be a cause for real concern!

I agree, the only thing in our favour is some of them shouldn't have received their tats let alone their tapes, so it's going to be easier for us to leave them behind, i beleave the job has changed alot apart from those stuck in commcens(poor sods) be even they have to deal with the IM side more.
Perhaps now with depth of maintanence that the tech's are doing shouldn't they be watching there backs? :PDT_Xtremez_06: sorry can of worms spilt on the floor, ha

Agreed mate, Im sitting in an office full of TG3. They are doing the same work as a couple of us peanuts and we are all getting on with things. Im not going to start wars between 'us' and 'them' but how many times have you seen a techie who's not working on and airfield acutally do techie work... Hotswap and off the shelf has stopped that side of their job, and its easy enough for us to 'learn' that. With DCSA DII coming to kill us off its nice to get some wonga in the pot before we all become wanna be civvies :PDT_Xtremez_42: anyway. And if coppers can get the high paid stream!!!! even as acting then yeah why not us. :PDT_Xtremez_32:

I am sorry to butt in on the peanut forum. As Ex-TG3 I have never had a problem with TG11 and never will, I like the friendly banter between us.
The future holds, according to my crystal balls is,

You lot will still break it and we will still fix it..............

Up to a point. In about 6/8 years time when all the new TG4 basics are time served and up to speed on both sides of the equation thats when it will change.
The old wood like me will be out/retired and life goes on.

Just my two penny worth.

Sorry again

Thats fair enough but as a fairly jnr SAC now Cpl, i feel that TG11 was faiding out a long time ago, i.e not many commcens, Radio Sections etc a long time ago, and those Jnr SAC getting picked up were more what TG4 was looking for, i have never worked in a Commcen but never will now, i have worked 2nd line on IS, as TG11 i worked as 1st and 2nd line telecoms as TG11 and was picked up on my ability to adapt and learn and take on new work practices, what gets my back up is the lads who have been SAC For 10+ years who have only worked in Commcens and basic TG11 jobs winging at me and giving me a hard time for my "not being in 45 mins" lines, move on i am a proud Peanut and always will be, however TG4 is far from settled yet, it will only be settled when we are all green, then Lean will see that The RC of Sig do the same as us then were done lads and lassies so hang on to what you can. :PDT_Xtremez_06:

The only problem I see with TG4 is that the Navy did the same thing 10 years ago. They've just started going back to single trades again, proves how much it worked for them!!

Yet another example of learning from previous mistakes, we hear all the time that the head sheds have taken on board these lessons yet we still bumble on blindly doing exactley the same thing time after time.

it didnt work for the navy because some numpty thought hey ive got one lad here that can do three different jobs i dont need 2 bods on the ship now until later when they realise that bod can only be one place at a time

So two points

1. Why the fcuk havent they learnt from previous mistakes??
and
2. Since we arent on ships we are on RAF Stations can we now be in two places at once?? If so cool and how do you do it? lol

Would love to have the pay, but still only SAC as been a naughty boy in my past.
