Oasis split up....don't look back in anger

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Yeah hands up who didnt see that one coming from a mile off!! Although now it paves the way for them to have a reunion in a couple of years time!!! :PDT_Xtremez_42: They are a great band to see live (well they were back in the 'Morning Glory' days) Liam is a bit of a pr1ck to be honest and I cant see him having a successful solo career, Noel however is definately the brains behind the outfit so watch this space I guess!!!

Both Liam and Noel will have successful solo careers if they want them, the fanbase is immense and will always be there regardless of whatever/whoever Liam upsets next time. They play straight rock and roll which is timeless.

I was at V for the last gig, and it was far off the mark from many previous Oasis gigs and frankly not worth the ticket, however.. They are undoubtedly one of the most important and influential bands of the 1990's and therefore deserve respect for their contribution to the british music scene. I personally have never been that interested in whether Liam or Noel is a prick or not. Good tunes tho..

I was at the other V that they cancelled for and was actually pleased they did as it meant that all the bands for that stage got put back a wee while and I got to see OCS who I would have missed otherwise and they were ace!!!

No great shock that they have split up, only more suprised that they lasted this long. Some bloody great chooones though, esp The Masterplan.

Yeah, this has probably been coming as they haven't seen eye to eye for a long while. Noel once described Liam as a 'man with a fork living in a world of soup', quite appropriate!

That was a quality interview Noel gave in Q.

After watching them in Cardiff earlier this year (where Oasis were blown away by Kasabian) Mrs Webbo turned to me after the gig and said her favourite part of Oasis was when Noel did acoustic or was lead singer.

I think Noel will clean up as a solo artist a la Paul Weller, but Liam doesn't stand a chance as he is not and never will be The King Monkey.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Both Liam and Noel will have successful solo careers if they want them, Liam is actually a quality songwriter (Outta time, Songbird etc etc)-simple- but the best tunes always are. Both the gallaghers could announce a solo tour next year and it would be sold out in hours.

I think Noel will be the most successful of the two and has already proven his mettle working with other artists. Indeed, I agree with Mrs Webbo that Oasis' best tracks were the ones where Noel is on his own (Masterplan, Sunday Morning CaLL, Little By Little, etc). As I said, never have been a big fan of Oasis, but am looking forward to seeing Noel's solo stuff as and when it appears.

Slide away,Champagne supernova, Wonderwall and Live forever are the biggest selling and most highly rated of all Oasis catalogue, all led by Liam. What makes a iconic front-man is confidence and swagger with talent to match. Ask any of todays biggest artists how they rate Liam Gallagher as a front man and they'll tell you he has it all. As Richard Ashcroft said, 'The man is a legend' Albeit he can intimidate people with arrogance. RIP Oasis!

Lost interest in Oasis after What's the Story, though did go see them a couple of times after then out of curiosity. Don't agree that Liam is a quality songwriter & though Slide Away & Champagne Supernova are two of the more popular songs were they ever released as singles? Haven't googled it, but have any Liam penned tracks been released as singles, & if so were they successful?

Noel complains in his farewell about intimidation and not having the support of his bandmates. Can you blame them as they are hired musicians who were probably afraid of being sacked? They lost that 'gang' vibe that you could identify with after Bonehead & Guigsy left.

Will they carry on without Noel - probably but only as the Liam Gallagher Band, whose albums will be even worse without Noels songwriting. As for the other 2, they weren't exactly a huge success pre Oasis.

Two previously talented artists who have now sadly, run out of steam through alcohol and drugs. I've now degraded them to 'tosser' level and I don't expect anything good to come from them in the future, although I hope I'm very wrong.

Got bored with their pathetic attempts to be The Beatles a long time ago. There's having influences and then there's just blantant plagarism. "oooh look at me, I'm wearing round glasses like John Lennons..."

Good first 2 albums then complete dog-toffee.

Still, a great marketing opportunity beckons...

Leave Oasis as a non-entity for 2 years, then anounce a reformation and comeback tour. That way everyone will have forgotten all the dross they released after their first 2 albums, and they can become their own cover band playing the hits on a "Sounds Of The 90's" tour with Elastica and Dodgy...Mike Flowers will be the compere!

Quote from JAMES DELINGPOLE (Dail Mail)

"Oasis are vulgar, over-hyped, under-talented"

I must say that I tend to agree.

Lights blue touch paper and retires....................................

oasis gone

oasis gone

Three cheers, lets hope we will be spared photos in the press of druged up tuneless members of the so called pop world, collapsing in seas of vomit outside various locations.

Thank heavens they've called it a day. I can remove the ear plugs now.

Noel is okay but I hope his brother is never seen again. Arrogant cocky **** in my opinion. How I laughed when that bloke is Germany gave him a hiding a few years ago. Tosser!!
