Folks of the esteemed electronic goat I come to you again cap in hand. Next year I plan to enter another event aimed at raising funds for the Severn Hospice but need to guarantee enough sponsorship before I can really commit. The long and the short of it is I need to raise £1000, or at least have it pledged or close to before I enter as I'll be liable for any shortfall. The event is basically a cycling challenge of 3 countries in 3 days, follow the link http://severnhospice.org.uk/events/north-sea-cycling-challenge/ which I aim to push myself to complete. I'm currently in training in GDC at the mo, you may have seen me if you're out there wearing lycra with a severn hospice jersey.

If you mant to sponsor or are willing and able to pledge and commit please let me know asap and I'll get registered. Please help a fat man get his wobbly ares into shape and also a charity to boot.

FLT

Hey FLT,

You know I'm all for fat blokes riding their hearts out....as long as it aint me !!

I was all set to pledge/donate then thought I would read all about it. It does sound great but it have reservations....

Why is your total cost £1150 when all the charity gets is £600 ? I know there are costs to cover for transport and ferry etc but £550 EACH ? Times that by 30 (as the max number) and thats a LOT of cash.

Just not too sure.....can you explain or convince me ?

The Severn Hospice have to pay for a guaranteed entry for the event. This amount will go towards the organiser's nominated charity/ies. That is why the SH need a certain amount pledged before granting a place.

The London Marathon runs on the same lines.

So all the cash is going to Charity just some to the organisers and some to the SH ?

Just seems like a large sum......however I can sort of understand that.

Cheers STL.....Crack on................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I shall ask for a bit more info from over here in sunny Italy and post accordingly but I think it's pretty much as STL stated. Now I can get some photos of me in lycra posted if that'll help. Perhaps I can work it the other way, sponsor me or I'll post photos of me all sweaty and dressed in lycra.

OK FLT....given it some thought and will pledge £50 towards your efforts. I am also in the process of selling my old car and will donate 10% of the proceeds to your cause (fingers crossed it sells !).

Just mail me when you have a donations page set up or where you would like the funds deposited.
