Does anyone know of an ELC registered course provider that does the BOSIET course, I have looked on the site but can't pull anything up! any help would be gratefully received.
Cheers

Not as such using ELC mate but you can use the £570 (or whatever it is cant remember) towards it. However do as I did.....get a job first (I know easier said than done), they will then pay for it and claim the money (and accom and food) back from the RAF, and your new company will have paid it as well :-)

Any self respecting company that takes you on will pay for the course in entirety...so better off saving the ELC's.

Crack on and good luck mate.......:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I believe ELCs are still restricted to Level 3 courses? e.g. Foundation Degree or similar level. Hence most are either knowledge heavy (IT systems) or have lots of theory as well as practical elements (e.g sparks, gas etc).
Someone once told me every Level 3 course has to have some maths in it to qualify! No idea if that is true or not. BOSIET is more of a safety indoctrination so I doubt would meet the grade unless combined with some sort of offshore engineering course? Happy to be proved wrong mind! Some companies in Aberdeen are now advertising 'offshore apprenticeships' to ex-forces where you get intro to all engineering disciplines - you pay for the course (18 weeks long I think?) but they reckon they can place you in work at the end (not guaranteed...).

Level 3 is A Level on the NQF, not degree level.

Level 4 is HNC, Level 5 HND/Foundation Degree and Level 6 is Honours Degree level.

Not sure that A Level English has any Maths in it!

Some good info re the ELCs in the Feb issue of Quest (online:http://www.questonline.co.uk/)
Page 20 covers them in detail including the Level 3 minimum requirement.

Also has good bit on working offshore and a write-up on Last3 Recruitment.
Definitely not a goer for using ELC on BOSIET/MIST unfortunately.
