I did 4 years on 'B' line from 79 - 83 during the Rhodesia/Zimbabwe op and the Falklands. C1's and C3's all. Reading between the lines on this and a few other Herc posts, it seems there isn't the same cando attitude that used to be standard. **** happens, so get on with it. Job still needs to be done so get off yer arse. Hopefully somebody will put me right about things but I remain unconvinced.

What exactly are you on about? What are you unconvinced about, that the current crop of Herc personnel aren't trying their darndest to keep them in the air?

Did B-Line myself a few years ago but I think you'd have to visit Brize and see the current state of the air farce to fully understand why there's a problem and I don't think it's due to a lack of cando attitude more a lack of people to do...

Remember the Air Force thinking " Can Do Cheaply"

One phone call from a disgruntled civvy and its down tools time and feck all we can do about it. Even Ops are getting in on the noise complaints now and messing us around

It used to happen at Lyneham when I was there, no ground running in front of the terminal or if there was an officers mess do they complain about the noise then too, It's not that noisy and if you live at an airfield or near to one then you should really just get on with it rather than complain,, that or move.

Yeah, those lazy RAF cnuts, it's not like they've have been fighting difficult wars whilst suffering swathes of cuts and manpower reductions and simultaneous deskilling and devaluing of technical trades for the past 15 years is it?

I take it you are saying that no-one will ever be as good as you? Get over yourself. You were on B line during Zimbabwe and Falklands, well done for being busy. There are guys who have been working their ar$es off for a lot more than 4 years and continually deploying to Afghan (and Iraq before that). Did you deploy during those busy Op periods or were you simply inconvenienced by a higher than usual workload at home?

It's nice to see that the guys still have the support from the public and ex-servicemen (well most of them anyway!)

D!ck

The 'Can-do' attitude that you talk about is still there. It's Airworthiness Regulations, QA, defence cuts, lack of spares etc that cripple the RAF these days. RAF Manpower was a hell of a lot healthier than it is today too. Don't judge the guys and girls doing the job, blame the system mate.

Oh my god. Are you serious? the MAA, QA, just in time spares provision and QCIT have enabled us to project flexible airpower for the last decade. I sincerely hope you are a mere civilian or JR. No senior or commisioned officer could possess such an appalling attitude.

The OP is obviously a cnut! The fact that the current Herc fleet has been on constant Ops for well over a decade blows your 4 year famine fest in the sun into oblivion. I think it would be a fair bet that AT air and ground crews have spent more time in theatre than almost any other discipline in all services. Along with that comes the increased work load at home for the same length of time. I think they have more than shown a "can do" attitude.

Fcuk off tw@t or I'll punch you in the mouth!

I've been on Hecs for a while now!! and have spent nearly 4 years away on Telic and Herrick. Almost as long as you spent on B line.

You haven't got a clue what you're spouting on about.

Hmm, that probably explains the state of the current TacAT Fleet.

Thankyou for speaking my mind.

There should be a space between "thank" and "you". No need to thankme.
