After speaking to TDF who didn't seem to understand what i was asking i thought i'd try the wealth of knowledge here.

Basically regarding duty travel to summer schools, who's budget does this come under? The section's of said person applying or the stations?

My WO wants me to travel by bus or train (from lossie to engerland) but id much rather drive!

I've claimed under T&S....same as going on day release..

Off TopicWho's your WO out of interest because that's a belter! He's obviously never done OU or he really thinks that the cash will come out of his pocket.:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Obviously i can't say! But he has done OU in the past (distant past i believe) and his attitude was "I used to take the train and it was fine for me". Shame that for lossie to anywhere takes bloody ages and i'l be doing a 16hr day that way. My reason for staying at a camp overnight and feeling refreshed for a short drive the next day didn't hold up. Even the travel cell couldn't believe i was asked to take a bus!

Are you asking for MT?

Are you asking for MT?

If you are driving your own car and only claiming PTR then there shouldnt be a problem. If you are thinking of using a MT vehicle or claiming ODR then you'll be told to get the bus/train/whistle.

I came back from overseas for my Summer Schools, I had to pay for flts and a hire car and all I got back was the mileage from Heathrow to Bath return. However I do have a degree which should make up for this when I move on.

It was fine for Albert Pierrepoint to hang people but he wouldn't get away with it now (apart from the fact that he's dead).:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I've resurected this thread to ask a similar question.

Many moons ago I did day release and it was a given that you could claim mileage. At ISK, Training and Dev't advised how to claim etc. I'm now serving at a Naval base; enquiries about claiming mileage were met with blank stares.

I've tried to find some direction from the books but I cant find any reference to educational travel expenses. The PT finance folk tell me that if I can prove that RAF usually get this...and include it within a ferkin business case I should be able to claim. What would be better is a reference to a JSP that I can refer to when making the claim.

Anyone have a magic reference that will support my claim?

Edit to mention that the course is not with the OU.
