Can anyone name any overseas posting which are left, by post and tour length? Whilst we look at UK draw down of camps and aircraft, how does that effect overseas posts? Are there any left? Give them by rank because the desk will not give this out.

Thank you Stacker 1195, but I questioned that list, because that is a list from ACOS, please don't be so gullible as to believe that those posting are actually available to all Stacker's, because they are not.......

I'm a liar, do you believe man landed on the moon, Kennedy was shot by a lone gunman and Gordon Brown isn't demented?

I have just had a look at the list and from what I know of current posts it is about 80% accurate. Doubtless there are some EVFs disestablishing posts that have not yet been actioned to the list but, broadly speaking it is right and the Future Availability Dates are accurate.

Things change every day and this list is updated monthly, not bad in my view.

If you've spoken to the desk and looked on the manning website where else do you expect the rest of us to get information from?? Perhaps you'd be better off asking if anyone knows about a specific post... I'm sure if Stacker1195 knows any gen he'll be only to happy to help seen as how you were so grateful the last time he helped you out..... :PDT_Xtremez_15:

There are quite a few in Cyprus you know at the place called RAF Akrotiri. There's even a few more in Episkopi and Ayn Nik too. Ranging from SAC to Air Cdre.

Many thanks for the replys (sorry RAF Bird but I do appreciate all replys). I thought Cyprus Stackers were going this year? In the AFCO they show a map with all the postings and the list on the Manning web page is great but it doesn't show when they are coming available and I never seem to see these advertised. Oh well I'll keep looking. Ta

The jobs are advertised on the Overseas volunteers list on the Manning website approx 6-8 months in advance of a known post coming up (depending on competencies/security clearances required for post). They do sit there for a good couple of months before the closing date, so that it gives personnel plenty of chance to see them and apply.

As BJW says the positions register/list is pretty accurate and up to date. There are however, a couple of posts that are to be disestablished but we are waiting for the paperwork to catch up to remove them from JPA.

Depending on your rank there will be a couple added next week for jobs coming up later on this year!

Good Luck!

Tinks many thanks for the reply from someone in the know. Since your reply I have been digging. My first post that I posted on this said 'the desk won't give out the positions'. I think this was because the desk did not know that so many were being cut. I didn't know then what I have now uncovered from speaking to people who have been applying. Between 10 and 15 Stackers (all ranks) posts oversees will be disastablished this year and thats not including AKI. Make no bones about it, that is massive. When you speak to the old boys, they spent more time overseas than at home. Now the TS knows this and I think the desk is getting slow feeds on this. Question from me is, does this effect retention or recruitment for the trade or are most people just happy to spend a career in the UK with the odd sandy visit? I think this is a massive loss for the trade.

TSW are always on the volunteers lists. I'm sure RAFBird will join me in confirming that you can be sure of some 'overseas time' on there :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Never believe AFCOs. They're proffesional liars!

10 to 15 posts being cut? That can't be a massive cut surely? Overseas posts for your trade must number quite highly compared to others?

Yes I can concur...... if you want time away in nice places, hotels, lots of travel 'overseas' then TSW is the life for you my friend! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

So how many times have you known TISWAS to live in hotels, I'm sure the guys will be pretty pis!ed of to see you writing that. May I suggest you do a stint yourself to see what its really like before giving out duff gen.

Pinkster, I think RAF Bird was talking slightly tounge in cheek!!!!

Calm down fella I for one would rather have my hole extracted and filled with lead than "volunteer for TSW" but it takes all sorts.

Ahh you again with the sense of humour... If you knew anything about me you would know that along with some of the others on here (stacker1195 (hence his post mentioning me!), norman the storeman, gillo etc etc) I served 4 years on TSW. My comment was as 1 ref said tongue in cheek but it would take someone with a personality to understand that!!!

I stayed in many a hotel during my 6 years on the Wing. Anyone can be uncomfortable, it takes a special kind of det cdr to get the boss to sign off rates for hotels! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I did however, stay in some proper shee-ite transit blocks, bombed out buildings, holes in the ground, etc too. They were much more fun!

Ding Dong!
