TBH I've never fancied the idea of Cyprus but as these area's are closing what little gems are available; a handful of IDO slots I imagine and that's it.

Off Topic There are still techies in VASS at Akrotiri as well, in addition to techies in Vegas with the preds, so it ain't all bad.

Come to New Zealand and join the RNZAF, you can't get any more overseas than here. I have only 6 aircraft of the Orion type to get C stores for, and one of those is away in the US getting a major refit.
Like the RAF the techies still get things wrong though, last week one of the squadrons here flying the well known 'Fat Albert' type aeroplane tried to go AOG for a urinal. I thought they were taking the p1ss! It's much the same as my days on shifty-fix and 5.

Having recently applied for one of the coveted slots at Akrotiri that were offered up just before Xmas I have come to the conclusion that my remaining time will be spent in the UK only as the desk almost laughed at my app due to the fact that in years gone by I had the audacity to apply for a posting to Germany (which I thoroughly enjoyed and made the most of) but have resigned myself to never going overseas again, well apart from the odd 4 months here there and everywhere


So if you've been overseas EVER, you stand no chance of getting another posting so make do with what you've got in the UK as it's where you will spend the rest of your time, sounds depressing but it's true (the desk said so)

PS. I only heard this morning that not all of Akrotiri Supply is going civilian. It's only a number of posts that have been earmarked so I'm reliably/unreliably informed. DT_Xtremez_42:

All embassy posts are for TG17 SNCO's (with the exception of Washington, with a couple of Cpl posts). Definitely no stackers posts. There are Supply officers dotted around the States in various RAFLO posts. Maybe the way forward is to venture to the dark side?
