Hi all from a hot place.

I'm away OOA at the moment and we don't have access to Paradigm phones, Internet (unless we pay) or even BFPO, and the ONLY admin services we have access to are back in the UK.

We've been told conflicting things about allowances to cover this. One visiting Army lad said there are two rates of LOA based upon how many welfare services you do not receive. Our admin says there is only one allowance and that is if we receive none of the OWP.

So, some questions.

1. What exactly constitutes the OWP?
2. If we are not in receipt of only parts of OWP, should we be receiving some kind of allowance to cover that?
3. Anyone got a copy of the exact rules and regs they can email me? Not got any DII or JPA or any of that out here though.

Any other advice would be really welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

It may be worth inquiring as to whether you qualify for Overseas IE at £10 per day. It is intended to pay for personal laundry, phone calls and access to a newspaper (can be via the internet). If you are having to pay out of your own pocket for 2 of those services, and the 3rd is n/a because you are entitled to have your uniform laundered at public expense then you may have a strong case.

That said, dont just whack it in on JPA because I said you may be entitled - get something in writing first!!

Bit rusty but

Bit rusty but

Where OWP is in place LOA is not paid as in theory the RAF has provided a service for you so there is no need to pay for it.

If you are getting LOA there are two sets of rates but from distant recollection there is one for Temporary (Detached) Personnel and one for Permanent (Posted) Personel.

On occasion our partner countries may provided services and this may grey the area a little

Point of notice on the Overseas Incidentals. This can not be claimed if you are in Field Conditions, so confirm with your admin before hand if it has been declared a field conditions location.

Can't help on the OWP? I have to many different answers to consider even trying to answer it.
