Hello guys,

I have PVRd however, I'm off work at the moment and have been asked to pass on a P45 to my future employer.

Could anyone give me the heads up as to how I go about getting one. Do I go via P1, JPAC or is it automatic. I am due out in September however, I need it earlier than that.

Many thanks in advance.

Your P45 will find its way to you automatically and you will receive it soon after you cease to be paid by the RAF - as long as your forwarding address on JPA is accurate. You cannot have it before then because it details the amount of tax paid in the year-to-date by your former employer, i.e., the RAF.

All that will happen is that you will need to complete a P46 for your future employer and they will apply emergency tax until you are able to give them your P45. The tax office will then make any adjustments necessary to the tax you will have paid.

Have you submitted a general application through PSF to take up paid employment whilst off duty? It is usually a formality for people in your position unless your new employment is in some way controversial (Nick Griffin's campaign manager, perhaps). It needs to be done regardless.

I have applied to work from the start of my annual leave & through terminal leave.

My next job is going to be tax free overseas however, I'll seek out a P46 on Monday. Thanks for your help!
