Hello fellow Goaters, I really need a storeman's help! Could someone tell me what the initial issue of PCSU is please? I work at a Tri-service establishment (ran by the Army) but we are parented by either litchfield or Cosford for clothing. However we cannot go to either of them directly and have to go through our RQMS. I have been issued 2x shirts, 2x trousers & 1 Jkt & 1 helmet cover, that's it, is this correct? The reason I ask is i'm off to do my AMLC on Monday and will be wearing this new PSCU, but I have black boots, green t-shirts & green belt only so don't know if this is correct dress. AP1358 does not direct on this and I'm away from unit. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks.

Normal issue might be different to ops issue, but I'd say youve been seen off. green t-shirts,black boots are fine, I know the belts are in short supply as I've got a yellow diff chit.

Are you aware that you do not have to wear PCSU as your daily dress? The Army cannot force you as the dress regs specifically state a RAF 2* must authorise the daily wearing of it.

BubbleButt, you have been equipped to current RAF scale for normal duties (I am guessing you are not a Rock). This is to be worn with black boots and blue rank sllides in camp. Wear green or brown t shirts as available. That is exactly what we have been issued at Northwood. You will get issued more if you need it for ops. Techie Tubby is right about dress. CAS policy since 2008 is to wear blues in camp and only to wear combat clothing on ops or exercise. If your Army chain of command insists on you wearing PCS in camp then they need the authority of the first RAF 2 Star in your chain of command. This IBN is the reference: http://www.publications.***********...0929-IBN 27 08-Changes to Wearing Uniform.doc The regulation on occasions for wear of No 3 Dress (combat clothing) is at AP1358, Chapter 2, paragraph 0227. http://www.publications.***************/live/AP1358/CHAPT 2 - Male.PDF

The OP never mentioned he was wearing it around camp, he stated he was to wear it on AMLC at RAF Halton.

Thanks for providing the link Orgasmic. From personal experience I have found it very helpful to prong out the page with the paragraph on and produce it as evidence. I have been challenged many times on the Army base I am working on and some of the officers try to rank bulky you into submission. Provided you are polite they tend to accept it although rather peeved off that they have been shot down by a crab.

WRT the rank slides, I have MTP ones from det, can these not be worn as standard or is it a complete blanket rule for when you are on normal duties that blue slides are to be worn?

Wear what you want fella.... It's only an AP, surely you can just follow the bits you want?

Was just asking to see if its one of those that varies from base to base. I have to RAF hierarchy to raise it up to, the Army would say shirts out, green slides and 2 belts.

T_T - blue rank slides in camp as per same ref in the AP, sub para k. The lightweight jacket is also supposed to worn tucked in when in camp despite being designed to be left out.

Still got my pcs on and still got the cammo rank slides on, my Chief says I wear what he wears

Then you are both contravening current dress regulations! Maybe you could take the opportunity to inform him that you are both incorrectly dressed, in the nicest possible way of course......and put your Blue rank slides on tomorrow.

OrgASMic you are spot on!

The specific direction is given in DIN 2012DIN01-159: Royal Air Force dress policy - Personal Clothing System Combat Uniform.

When not deployed (ie normal peacetime working conditions that includes journeys to and from work and between bases as part of your day-to-day duties) we are to wear the lightweight jacket tucked into the trousers, with normal blue rank slides (not the subdued ones issued for ops) and - as an added bonus - we can wear the RAF stable belt (though not any non-RAF stable belts).

Funny how I wear pcs down where all the head honchos are but not one person has asked why I am in pcs. I have said before about what I do and why I have it on and had the people reply with exactly what I thought they would. Same people, same comments. It's getting old now and to be fair very boring. I hadn't commented on anything for a while because every time I look on here it is the same old people having a go. Well I am off ooa on Saturday so I can feel safe in the knowledge that I am not contravening any orders. Might even leave my shirt untucked, oh could even role the sleeves up.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks to all who've replied. I'll look at the DIN regarding how to wear the PCSU, don't want to turn up on Monday incorrectly dressed-not a great start to AMLC! Thanks again.

Guessing what job you're in from username and region, why do you need to be in PCS? Scopies I know who've been there before have done it just fine in blues. Not picking, just curious.
