Hey all,

I have been asked to produce a pen picture of myself and having never done one before, i am a little stuck!

Does anyone have any they have done they could post here or pm me?

If not, do i put titles etc Do i need to mention career aspirations. Or is it something that I HAVE done in th epast.

Thanks all

It depends what the pen-picture is for? Assessments / appraisals?
Look up a CV format on the internet, that will give you a starting point.
If you need a pen-picture then over what period is it to cover, last year, working life, time in the RAF?
Keep it brief and salient, do NOT over-flower it, it is written so it can and most probably will be used against you.
Never list negatives / weakness's, see them as areas of current development.

You are to provide a pen picture outlining you career to date

A4 size

and that's all the info given. It is for a course, but not IMLC, JMLC.

I have searched for templates, but there are quite a few. Just wondering if any had any good ones they would recommend using. Or something that will help it stand out and not make me look a biff (ie i turn up with paragraphs of stuff and someone turns up with swirly, colourful text and pictures!)

Born in, educated at to (or not) the following standard. Jobs before joining, reason for picking trade. Most enjoyable job and tour, hobbies outside. If you are really stuck go to the Unit Intranet or Cmd pages they have sample Bios which will give you a start.

Start with background - family pre joining.
Education - school, college etc,
Joining date - Training undertaken, postings and employment history, on the job / in work learning and development, in chronological order.
Close with aspirations and plans.

Keep it brief, accurate and concise.

Hope that helps!

And thanks for all the advice; very much appreciated and a fair few good ideas i can utilise!

Student Websites

Student Websites

Try searching Student websites, most students have to submit a pen picture when they apply for university, so they may be relevant to you.

Don't forget to focus it on the course you are about to study highlighting any relevant parts of your life that are pertinent to the course.

Good Luck
