Forgive me if this is mentioned elsewhere as I cant seem to find it; I have a question on pensions.
As I understood it after 22 years you get a tax fee lump sum and a monthly amount which is taxed at the appropriate rate. I was under the impression that if you commute the full amount and receive a larger lump sum and lower monthly amount the entire lump sum is tax free?
I was told that this has now changed and as Apr 1st this year the commuted difference is now taxed, does anyone know if this is correct? I'm going to enquire through the correct channels but a short answer would be appreciated for the moment if anyone knows.
