We've just received a briefing entitled..... Peoples Campaign.

It was given by OC BSW and fully old thing, I think he may be a lurker of this site as he mentioned it by name and this thread in particular.

http://www.e-goat.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=16308&highlight=retention

It was basically a brief on what, can, may, might possibly be happening at some point in the future with regards to a number of issues not just retention.

Another issue that was raised and has been subject to many many threads on here, was pay banding and the possibility of a new structure being hashed together (not the phrase he used, but if pay 2000 is anything to go by then hashed, is the correct phrase).

Apparently the OCs of all Sections Air Force wide will be delivering this brief soon, so expect to hear for yourself what someone, somewhere, might consider doing at some point........ Money and budget permitting (FFS if the statements weren't wishy washy enough, the last one puts the nail in the coffin).

It's also been broadcast across a unit with three names spanning two counties yesterday and today - the Goat got another mention!!

Is it a brief telling us what we've been saying for years or is it a brief telling us change is afoot?
Anything concrete?

Nothing over here yet, maybe we should just call it a BAe recruitment fair instead.

All we ever get is brief this and brief that, so many "leaders" love the sound of their own voice - does anything ever get done? Does it fcuk!

We all know that Group Captain Herrington-Smythe will get the peckers around the bird table in some "O" club and give the illusion that the big badges have sorted themselves out and are going to stop the mob going tits up.

Well, they've got to justify their uber-comissioned existance somehow haven't they?

Nope, nothing concrete and this was confirmed when he said that "all this is subject to budget".

It was also mentioned that we are at, give or take a few the magic figure of 41000. They have now figured that maybe, just maybe 41k is too little manpower. No $hit Sherlock!

Another issue that was mentioned was for some trades they were thinking of reducing the minimum educational requirements. For example, those that require 3 GCSE may no longer require any. Anyone else not think that this is a good move. FFS what are the grunts going to do for infantrymen when they all join the RAF (because they can)?

If anything I would say increase the qualification requirement and those who want to join will have to go back to college/nightschool and get them if they really, really want to join.

I think the idea behind this, is to get bums on seats, but will dropping the educational requirement quite literally get us "bums on seats"

Had our brief today, well, the last time I remember listening to something similar was on the history channel....

Full of the same old rubbish from those upstairs, cunningly dressed up to look like they actually give a fcuk about the rank and file. At least they could have the balls to man up and say; "look, we fcuked up, the RAF is on its arse and we are sorry". We've gone from "if you don't like it, leave" to "people are our best asset" in the space of two years - do they think we are fcuking stupid?

The wheel was re-invented at least 5 or 6 times as well. Apparently some bright spark has decided we need more TG 17 again, whoops, maybe we shouldn't have let them all go in the first place eh?

I'm sure PSF will be full of people in the next few weeks trying to rescind their PVR's because they bought into this crock of sh1t. Maybe not, eh?

One of the (few) good ideas was the apparent reintroduction of families officers (albeit civvy ones). At least this may go some way to sorting out the current fiasco some people are experiencing with SFA.

Oh, the Goat got another mention! :PDT_Xtremez_27:

(Mods, could we move this to the service gen section of the site? It seems more topical that way)

At least you got a brief, we have had the Briefing document handed out to us.

Thats it, so now we have to decipher the management language it is written in. I mean WTF is this pearl of wisdom supposed to mean

"Develop and train the personnel contribution to enhance joint capability integration, and delivery and protection of decision superiority."

What exactly is decision superiority??
