Please don't give me any Shi* for this.

I help out on the No1 Radio School Roadshow at Cosford. What the roadshow is about is promoting TG4, sounds dull but its really quite good.

What i am trying to do is get some photos together of what the trade does within the RAF. Everywhere i have looked all i can find is bloody planes, what about comms stuff???

If any of you out there know of a place that i can lay my hands on some please let me know. I can then use them to make some posters and a book to hand out to the schools when they visit us.

I know TCW have a shed load of pics of various dets but thats only 1 side of the trade. as for the rest of the trade i don't know. hope it helps!

Get a hold of the person setting up and running the 90 SU museum at RAF Leeming. (PM me if you need a name).
There is tons of stuff there including a shed full of photos from nearly every deployment the unit has been on.

hope this helps :)

And dont forget you are not allowed to show pics of us all playing solitaire since we are practically jobless now (unless we wear green)

Drop MAINJAFAD a PM, he might be able to help.

I produced a computer presentation about TG3 and the introduction of the SAC(T) while at 1RS almost 9 years ago and ran into the same problems, needless to say in the end I had to go to operational units to film the stuff myself (worth it for the night on the P1ss with ILLKC even though England got knocked out of the world cup that night). Of course thanks to the new rules on photographing MOD activities , you need an offical MoD photographer to do it. I did Keep copies of what I filmed for later use, but most of it has now been phased out of service. i.e.

CR62 - Gone
Watchman Series 9 Display - Gone
IUKADGE DDN - DHS - DVCS - Gone
UNITER - Gone
RAPIER FSC - Going
T93 RADAR - Going

Have you talked to TBT in Flowerdown? They may be able to help. If you want any old AD stuff, I can get photos of that stuff for you.

Just to confirm what HT said earlier. Around 2 years ago, the then WO of 3 Sqn (initials BS) had 2 massive boxes of photos which were just screaming out to be sorted and catalogued properly. They stretched back to the pre-Brize days and covered almost every Det and Conflict the Wing took part in.

I hope they did get passed to the bloke putting the museum together as they were a massive slice of TCW's history.

Camera in the Commcen?!

Camera in the Commcen?!

As it's against the rules to have a camera in the Commcen or a Signals Unit I doubt there are any pictures out there - except those taken 'in the field' with TCW. I've got some very 'colourful' photos taken on TCW Dets such as Bahrain and Turkey but I don't think they'll be suitable for your roadshow.

If its an official roadshow, have you thought of contacting the RAF PR people??????
