Piston engines to make a comeback?

Are we going to see piston engines make a return to military helicopters in the future?

Airbus helicopters have succcessfully tested a helicopter powered by a kerosene fuelled lightweight V8 engine.

Looking forward and as the technology improves, what about retrofitting these new engines to existing fleets?

Mmmmm loads more moving parts that can go wrong at a moments notice..Surly if they could sort out the fuel consumption of a rotary engine, this would have been a better bet...? But who am I to say any different?

I note the statement about emissions being cut was paramount in this report, but nothing about power or performance...makes you wonder doesn't it?
