Currently serving, have applied for a commission. Passed the filter interview and went for a medical with Capita.

Apart from the letter now addressing my application to join the Royal Navy, I have been declared PMU for an >12 week period of back pain from 2011. I received an epidural and havent been back to the med centre since. The reason stated is because of the rigorous challenges of training and operations, so, am I now excempt from going away or entitled to a medical discharge? Because I have been to afghan since (2014) and also was signed on for my 22 last year!

This makes little to no sense! Has anyone experienced similar and had success?
 
Same has just happened to me, PMU due to a previous back injury which I had physio and rehab for and have had no dramas with since. Who would of thought trying to go from Gunner to SNCO Air Traffic would be such a challenge especially in response to a trawl. Just got to go down the appeal route and see what happens, if not AFCO OC's have the power of an executive waiver to get past the medical.

Really? Have you seen that in writing? I think it will be the Trade Sponsor who decides if they're willing to allow someone into their trade who is below the entry standards rather than the AFCO OC. Might be worth checking.
 
Yes I've looked into this and quite happy with the P2 Waiver process, it is all depending on Quality of the candidate and service need at the time. I'm still fit for service within the Regt and actually meet the medical standards for ATC just not from a recruiting prospective which is the issue many serving personnel have when trying to go NCA/DE SNCO ATC /Commission after being an airman for any amount of time.
