I made the mistake of trying to find a half-decent porn site the other evening.
I have a reasonable firewall, but I was plagued by a bloody pop-up which tried to get me to install an anti-virus programme WAV08). What made it worse, it looked like a Microsoft product (look & feel), but did not have Microsoft in words on it. It's taken me ages to get rid (praise to 'Programme Explorer').

Running AVG found me a whole new field of trojans and other crap.

This leads to two questions. Is there such a thing as a 'clean' porn site (and what is it), and - how can I stop this mess happening again?

I have found loads of clean porn sites. Once you find them just stick to them and dont go anywhere else. If you get redirected to another just shut the page down. Never, never, never click on anything on the page you have been redirected to.

I use ZoneAlarm, Avg 8, and Avg Anti-spyware, which are all free. I have also updated to I.E 8 which has a more effective popup blocker.

This should be enough to stop all the harmfull stuff getting through.

Thanks, Studley.
I use Firefox, AVG & Zone Alarm.

What bothers me now is that the cleanup has worked so well, it's erased my passwords for the e-mail addresses and I cannot remember them.

E.B. That's because the cookies which store the passwords have been removed.
Check the software settings. You may be able to adjust them so it doesn't remove passwords.

EX-Bay, are you using Vista or XP.
If its Vista go into control panel, find internet options and change the settings on the security options. I dont think there is a way to get them back once you have cleaned it up though. (I could be wrong). Only other thing you could try is using System Restore which is also in control panel.

XP pro, SP3

Mail can get out from Outlook Express. The passwords are still in the requisite boxes (in Properties). Password works in Webmail.

You know this Anti-Malware thing Microsoft does. It is automatic or an executable programme ?

Care to send me an PM on websites?

Ta Muchly.
