Ok I was on Facebook last night and the Royal British Legion have launched an ad campaign for Poppy People for this year.

All they are asking for is 2hrs, if you want to be one of those who is a Poppy Collector. There are other ways to help as well.

Eeh what happened to the days when we 'volunteered' for it. I rememeber standing on West Brom hight street shaking the old box, and that was in No 1s.

It seems the RBL are losing lots of volunteers every year, mainly due to veterans feeling that they can't do it anymore.

I don't really see the problem with encouraging new people to get involved.

I find it sad that as each year passes, the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Day are taking more and more of a back seat in society's eyes. Last year, the 11 O'Clock chimes hit just as I was about to enter my local Tesco. Everybody stood there in dignified silence except this one oxygen thief who walked up, looked at everybody and spouted "what a load of sh!te" before stomping into the store. I wasn't angry, just disappointed that less and less people care.

My daughter is 5 and she bllocked someone last year for not standing still. I had to bite my lip as the lady went scarlet.
