Hi everyone, hope someone can shed some light on this for me: I'm posted from up here in Scotland down to Oxfordshire, I'm driving down today and stopping at my parents house and then driving the rest of the way tomorrow. Obviously I'm entitled to a petrol claim (incidentally does anyone know the rate off hand?) but am I entitled to 2 days subsistence or just 1 (the journey is 554miles if that's relevant) and am I entitled to any kind of allowance for the stop at my mum's instead of a hotel? I've never heard of that but a few guys are adamant that it does/did exist. (I'm travelling on my own for just now as there are no quarters available for another month and a half). Cheers and "cyber-biscuits" in advance!

You can claim for staying with family & friends and I believe the current rate is £35.00 per night. The MMA rate is 25p per mile but without the admin bible in front of me I can't say about how many night SA you're entitled to; now if it was to/from overseas, I'd be all over it!

Back in my day you would be expected to break your journey at a Service establishment thus minimising SA. Are there still such things as Rates 1, 4 and 5?
