Just after some info please. If posted and you have your own home but thinking of staying in the block in the week travelling home at weekends what can you claim for. How much do you have to pay to stay in a block these days etc. The other option is renting the house out and moving into Qtrs. Never lived in Qtrs before. Can you claim removals etc? Sorry for the questions Just I know that my Mrs is going to fire all these questions as soon as I walk in the door!

My PSF Knowledge is, unfortunately, a dim & distant thing of the past as NATO has drummed it all out of me. However, you will be able to claim GYH(M) allowance which is a daily allowance based on the distance between your gaff & your unit which roughly equates to 2 return journeys a month home; PSF should be able to quote your rate based on the mileage. Living in the block isn't quite as cheap as it used to be either as the rules have, or are about to change regarding food & accom; someone should be able to quote you chapter & verse so I won't make a guess. Renting is an option too and you should get removals & DA (Pri - Pub rate) & if you decide to sell & buy you maybe entitled to Refund of Legal fees dependant on circumstances. Your PSF will be able to answer all these Q's for you with figures if you have the chance to pop in & see them.

Are you married? I claimed Married Unaccompanied in a similar situation. Accom was free, and the food was at an abated charge. If its a completely personal choice to commute at weekends (ie not married, no kids etc) I think you might be up sh!t creek i'm afraid. They'll only pay 50 miles allowance (which they've just cut, obviously as petrol is cheaper now...). I'd say go to PSf, but do they still exist?

Just ring JPAC up and ask them, they'll know all the answers off the top of their head as if they'd been doing it for years.......

Oh sorry wrong thread...........needs to be in the JOKES thread !!

Crack on and good luck with the move and finding out the info !! .....:PDT_Xtremez_09:

If you live in then you will be entitled to GYH(T), as long as your house is over 50m away. You will not be liable for accom charges but will pay MUFC. Be aware that as of Apr 08 you will have to pay the same rate as the singlies.
If you decide to move into Qtrs you will be entitled to removals and disturbance (£990).

There's also the option of claiming legal costs incurred in letting your house should you choose to take that route. Use an approved letting agent though as their charges include this fee, and will be a big help if/when you need your house back.

Thanks everyone for the info. Think I will keep my place on in Lincoln and rent it out. Can't afford a house in the big smoke. Cheapest good 3 bed room was 340 k ! As for going to PSF/Hr/whatever they are called this week............ They are closed...

Even if moving from own home into public property, I don't think so! I was always told, It's not the RAF's issue that you choose to own your own house.

Got to HR mate they know everything.

Failing that get a caravan and live in a layby next to to the truckers sh*t, it will be cleaner than your average patch.

Yes you are entitled to it even then. As long as the house you are moving from has been your residence at work (you have lived there on a daily basis on your current assignment) address.
