Have recently taking up a new posting (assignment order notice), is there anything that can be claimed? Normally i would claim disturbance, but:

a. The posting is to another Unit that is still within a commutable distance ie we will remain in the our own property and no move is required.

b. Children are not required to relocate schools.

So, basically, i just have to drive to a new Unit, but no major disruption to family life etc.

Anything to claim?

Thanks in advance!

If I was in the same situation I would just get the HTD changed and make sure they don't have you penned in for anything undue such as Food + Singleton Accommodation.

I'm not sure if you can claim disturbance allowance for such a situation but if you could then whether you do or not depends on your moral compass.

Thanks Spearmint,

But with reference to moral compass, if DA is payable on any new posting, then i would claim. If the JSP states DA is payable under meeting certain circumstances, and i didn't meet them; then i wouldn't claim.

But i don't know and neither does my HR staff (conflicting views!)

I can't see how your HR can have confliciting views (if they have read the JSP of course).

The fist paragraph of the Section on Disturbance Allowance (JSP 752 Chap 7 Sec 1) is clear:

07.0101. Aim. The aim of Disturbance Allowance (DA) is to contribute towards the necessary additional expenses that arise when the Services require their personnel to make a qualifying move from one place of residence to another.

So you have to move houses/blocks etc to qualify.

The JSP is avilable in the airspace section of the RAF Website at this link

Jesus Christ, I despair with some of our HR staff, the JSP is very clear for DA and how they can have conflicting views is beyond me.

However, it looks like you've been given the right answer from Climebear. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I know what you mean - the importance of checking source documents was hammered into me in training. It's even easier now, they don't have to leave their desks as all the information is on the magic television thing that replaced the CARDEXs.

I am in the process of putting a claim in today and I phoned my PSF for some guidance, I know it's going to get audited because of the amount I am claiming for certain things so I phoned my audit clerk for guidance and asked them if what I was doing was correct as different clerks had told me different things in the past. Their answer was "I don't know". If they don't know how the audit works then how the hell would I know?:PDT_Xtremez_42:
