Hello,
does anyone know whether its possible for me to be posted out of trade into a role such as RTS or an AFCO at the moment? Does anyone have the manning figures for my trade (ATAV)? I spoke to someone a few months back regarding the AFCO option and at that time we were apparently undermanned. It was said to be unlikely that I would get an AFCO slot. Would appreciate any gen on this.

Cheers.:raf:

Cheers for that, just as I thought really. Im looking to put the forms in anyway with the hope it will change shortly. If anybody has any info on when this is likely to change it would be muchos appreciated!

Hi Monkey

I've had 3 job applications rejected in the last 3 years as the trade is undermanned (Av), even though all 3 jobs had 'Any Trade' against them.

When I 'suggested' to PMA that it was a form of discrimination againt fairies, I was politely told to ram it!

I'm guessing it's just another case of losing all the cushty jobs to the ancilliary trades!:PDT_Xtremez_25:

Apparently we are 500 people short in TG1 and this is why we are restricted to jobs within trade. Everyone else has had a FRI but the rumour is that it would be too expensive for TG! so we'll just muddle through!

Just a thought but do you think it will be long before they civilianise the AFCO jobs, makes sense in a way in OOA's are coming round more often than not?

If you want to know your manning stats then go on the manning web site. There is link to the manning stats for all trades.
I asked about RTS and AFCO but got told to dream on as I have a DV and my trade is undermanned. I wouldn't mind if they say "any trade except" but they don't.

Does that include TG1? The last 500 times I've looked it says see the mythical RAF Placement Plan, which is obviously secret and not for the eyes of TG1.

The Army tried to go down this route around 2000 when I worked in Inverness and it was a complete failure. It took around 8 months to sort out the backlog that they created.

Hopefully lessons have been learned... but I doubt it.

Had ACOS Manning down our way today to let us know what's happening as per JFH. I asked about changing branches and they are indeed saying no to such items as AFCO and Mountain Rescue applications.

Yes it includes TG1 at the top.

Its called the Forcast manning distribution levels. Its just under the UK & OOA Positions Register.
Only snag is it doesn't give A Tech (M) or A Tech (AV) levels as these are under the RAF Placement plan and I haven't got a scooby where to find that.
Hope that helps.

The original TG1 placement plan was in the Chief Clerks Bulletin circa Oct 2007. I'm sure someone could trawl back but it would be well out of date as at that time priority was for JFH...

I know that Downsizer, hence my post. Ive also mentioned it in other posts on the subject.
Why do we still get referred to it though?
I'm pretty sure it was removed before Oct 07. We were due to be posted out of a closing station and wanted the list to guess our likely posting options. Couldn't find it then.
