Just enquiring if any goaters have had any recent (good or bad) experiences of using an overseas pre paid card ?
What provider did you use and any merits of it or particular sticking points. Many thanks.

Martina.

Depends where you are going.

I use FairFX cards http://www.fairfx.com/ when I'm away.

You can get them in either Euro's or Dollar versions and their exchange rate is one of the best as well. Only tip with these cards though... if you pay for dinner with it lets say.. don't include the tip on the card - pay cash. if you don't then you have to pay a ghost charge! silly I know - but nothing is 100% perfect.

Its a bloody good card and as I said - I use it all the time.

I've used the Travelex Visa pre-pay card in Europe & USA.
You need different cards for $ or Euro.
Got mine from Tesco Extra in Newcastle. You need some ID to set it up initially. You can then load it online, change PIN & check balance. I got a second card at the same time & they can be linked to one pot of money/account.

We had no problems anywhere when using them.

Many thanks for the suggestions with this enquiry, I'll investigate them all with regards to loading Australian and NZ currencies. Cheers everyone.

Me too dead easy charge it up and its credited real quick - you can also choose a euro card or a dollar card or a worldwide one - fair rates of exchange too and no mahoosive withdrawal fees

Yep, I usually use travelex too; they're extremely easy to use and top up. I have never been charged commission whilst using them in a cash machine either.
