Dear all,

Tried searching the internet, but couldn't find an answer. I'm currently waiting for a PROC date, and am smashing myself phys-wise to make sure that the is no problems with that area. However, I'm slightly worried about the Assault Course at PROC. Im 5ft8, and have tried everything possible, but really struggling with the 9ft wall. I'm currently serving in the TA, so have access to an assault course that I've been practicing on, and really can't get to grips with getting over it. How heavily is full-completion of the Assault Course weighted? I've asked my recruiter, but she said she couldn't give me an honest answer as it's not something that has been reported back to her.

My next question is if I were to be unsuccessful at PROC, is it possible to have another attempt at it? Again, asked my recruiter and she said that she would look at other career paths for me in that eventuality, as that was policy.

Many thanks in advance,

W

Got a few PMs saying Failure to get over wall = Failure of PROC.

Looks like I'm going to focus on pull-ups for the next few weeks and hope I'm lucky on the day.

Handstand pressups (against a wall), best way of getting more strength in your shoulders.

Oddly enough, got an email this morning from my Recruiter saying she's been promised an email from a PTI at Honnington with a programme to help.

Also in reply to my question as to whether or not I will fail if I dont fully complete the Assault Course - "All components of PROC are assessed individually on their own merits to form a picture as to whether or not the Board feel that you will be likely to finish JROC, a weak performance in one area can be made up with a strong performance in another." I've taken that it's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen.

Yes but you can FAIL an element, if you don't get over the 9 foot wall outside 159 then you aren't recommended. I spent enough time seeing potential recruits getting flung over that assault course, as well as bring beasted over it myself.

Popular misconception is that all the work is done by your arm so on the wall, it's not. Your back, shoulders and chest do most of the work if you have the right technique.

Completely unrelated to PROC, but what IS a good technique for pull-up type exercises? (Because I'm a wussy girl, and complete kack at them!) :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Cheers for the heads up, think I have it nailed now since the PTIs advice came through.
