Daft question....

When the board release the initial ** of personnel for promotion, where does that leave the remainder within the prediction? Is the initial release for the first 6 months or are the remainder trickled out over the course of the year?

For example, the first 50 are released for a prefiction of 100... Does 51 wait until the second half of the year to find his/her fate?

Thanks in advance!

Depends if they use the remainder. They can always just stop at 50. It's just a waiting game, your snco can chase it up with manning, but never assume it's a given, until you have an assignment order.

There's nothing worse than assuming you have got it in the bag, only to realise you weren't used. Trust me from personal experience.

I was at 19 last year, only to be told after 3 weeks that the career manager got the order wrong and I was actually 194. I know I never had it, but I still get funny looks when people expect me to have my tapes, and so felt a little stupid. But luckily I'm emotionally intelligent enough to move on.

All I'm saying is just wait out to save any embarrassment. Nothing is a given until that jpa notification is online.

Good luck!

Oh mate, so sorry to hear that.... Fair play for keeping your chin up and getting on with it though. My CoC rang twice to confirm where the personnel under their command had finished up.

Good luck with the future boards. C

The prediction is just that - a best guess. There may be a few people initally released to be promoted into current vacancies. Any others on the list simply have to wait for a slot to become available. And the good news... ... the promotion selection list (PSL) is usually closed about a month before the next promotion board sits so if you haven't been used - you go back in the melting pot with everyone else. Good luck!

Ok, I'll clarify my point...

Say right now the first ** had been released and I was next! where does that leave me? Do I wait until the next 6 month batch or would I get notified within the first 6 months?

You'd be notified as soon as they release the next batch - it could be a week after the first 6 month prediction, it could be much later in the year. A prediction is a best guess, lots of factors come into play ie PVRs etc. They may not even get to you (in the very worst case) - I suggest a vist/call to your Unit Career Advisor who will be best placed to find out the ACTUAL gen and when/if you are likely to get the nod! Good luck!
