This is just a general enquiry really; but I know that some Chf Clks, etc read this website, so it seems like a good place to seek information in an unofficial capacity.

Basically, can anyone in the know shed any light on what the chances would be of obtaining very quick release, (eg <1 month), following a PVR application; if the applicant could provide solid evidence of a job offer?

I have heard a number of stories of people who have managed it, but the waiting times seem to have been arrived at on a fairly arbitrary basis. Who has the authority to approve such a reduction from the published figures? Can this be done at Unit level?

I ask this question because there would be no point in an individual seeking alternative employment, gaining an offer; and then having to turn it down due to having to wait 6 months for release. Such a situation would only serve to blot the jobseeker's reputation, and result in a seriously unproductive and disaffected Airman!

The potential applicant in question is an A Tech M Cpl, with no a/c 'Q' annotations.

So long as your line management are happy to cope with your gapped post, then there maybe scope for you to leave sooner than the published PVR waiting time.

The problem is that manning would, usually, only replace you upon commencement of what would have been the start of your terminal leave, had you worked your full notice.

Why not pose the question to your management and then make moves dependant on the result. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Get your Line Mgt 'approval' and a copy of your job offer and the Chf Clk can then send the evidence of the offer to your CM for them to make the decision.

But remember, if you haven't got a PVR in, they can still stiff you for a DWR even though you're asking to get out early.

Work on a general rule of thumb of half the promulgated PVR time as a BF of date. Thereafter factor in resettlement, terminal and annual (as applicable):in doing so remember that (officially) you need permission from the Resettlement bods to commence work during resettlement leave. However as TMG points out, a firm offer is not necessarily a guarantee of leaving.

Don't be surprised if your boss turns you down for earlier release though. When i put my PVR in i asked to come out about 6 months early, he explained that his predicament was that if he said i could leave early my post would have to be gapped until my proper exit point and then PMA may well ask "well, if you can do without anyone in that post for 6 months, you can do without that post at all!!". We are in even more cost cutting world now.
Luckily PMA in it's infinite wisdom realised i was fnucking useless anyway and let me go early.

I've just got out in approx 4 weeks and the above is true...My trade is very much in decline so the desky nearly whooped when he found he had a willing volunteer rather than having to stiff someone for mandatory redundancy.
