  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
If you've done your time for GRT (12 years) or pension (22) then you will get what you're due, otherwise you'll have to wait for a preserved pension when you're ancient!

Let's face it, if they offered a financial incentive to PVR, there'd be no-one left!

If you are past your 12 year point you may well still get a gratuity that you would have got if you left at that point, and you are on a notice engagement after 22 so it's not really classed as a pvr and you will obviously get your immediate pension. Outwith that, you won't even get your bus fare home. (Oh remember the days where you had to pay to get out early.... when did that end?)

Actually, you do get your bus fare home; other than that the advice given is accurate.

The last PVR I administered where the individual had to pay a little more than a month's net pay (about £700 I think) for the privilege was in 1994.

Another PVR question: I've got my 7.5 year cash bonanza, had it since september . I'm planning on popping my PVR in in late may/early June. Will I have to pay any/all of it back? Or does the fact that it'll take at least 12 months to get me out negate that?

Cheers chaps,

DM

If you are past your 12 year point (but haven't reached the 22 year point) you are entitled to the Resettlement Grant which currently sits at £9,246 if you are on AFPS 75 or £9,576 if you are on AFPS 05, you are also entitled to the full resettlement package (for what it's worth) of 35 days resettlement leave plus £536 resettlement allowance plus accomodation costs and 7 warrants (these can be consolidated warrants for each of the 7 weeks resettlement travel) you may be entitled to a further 3 warrants for CTW, Pension Brief and Self Employment Brief if taken up, You will also have earned yourself a preserved pension payable from age 65............ no bus fare though...... enjoy!

I believe it is 16 years' service to get the full 35 days graduated resettlement time? I don't have the scales in front of me so I may be wrong. I am not expert on the whole range of journeys the (up to) 7 resettlement warrants may be used for, but even if you do not take a formal resettlement course you still have opportunities to use them. Your resettlement advisor can give you all the info you need on that.

CTW, etc., are duties like any other course/meeting so you will be entitled to claim MMA and other associated allowances as appropriate.

You are entitled to a duty journey from your last unit to your permanent home address on discharge. It is effectively the return portion of the journey you took when travelling to Swinderby/Halton/Cranwell for the first time. For many people it is not worth claiming, but if you are discharged from Lyneham and are resettling in Scotland then it's a few more quid in your pocket.

The commitment bonus you received carries an 18-month return of service. You could have PVR'd/given notice the day after you received it and as long as your exit date is at least 18 months after you received your bonus you are covered.

Note: The regs imply that you have to give 18 months' service from the date you received your bonus; if push came to shove I think it likely you could get away with 18 months after the bonus was due.

I presume those figures quoted will be subject to tax?

Thanks mate, that at least gives a clue when I go to the adminers!

.....the full resettlement package (for what it's worth) of 35 days resettlement leave ....

Well if nothing else its worth 7 paid weeks off work (thats if you dont want to use it for training courses or civilian work attachment and class it as Individual Resettlement Preparation).

Tax Free My Friend.

TBJ don't forget about the YTSs who joined up at Hereford, not one of them myself though.

I thought about including Hereford but then somebody would point out that they joined up in the 60s before recruit training moved to Swinditz and I can't remember where that was. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

YTS were going through Hereford until the late 80's even into the early 90's was at a Rock Training Camp in 91 and we had a Food Blander (Cook) who was Young Thick & Stupid so would still be relevant TBJ

Normal recruit training was also done at Hereford in early '91 when a meningitis outbreak closed Swinderby down for a few months. I had forgotten to include Catterick & Honington, so now you've made me pi$$ off the Rocks. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Honestly, you make the effort to be accurate and there's always someone around to point out the missing comma. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

You can also use your resettlement travel warrants to go house hunting/mortgage arranging.

Handy for 7 free weekend trips away.:PDT_Xtremez_27:
